Founder of NeuroBiome™

Health Consultant/ Workshop Facilitator/ Presenter

Developed by Dr Meredith O’Loughlan, NeuroBiome is the culmination of over 25 years of personal and professional experience — grounded in Western medical science and enriched by Eastern wisdom. The method is shaped by 20 years of clinical practice (internal medicine soley/ approxiately 20,000 patients), extensive studies in Western medical sciences, combined with Meredith’s own journey of living with and healing from Multiple Sclerosis after decades of gut health challenges and surgical intervention.

Meredith is passionate about creating and sustaining health. Outside her practice, she enjoys bike riding, tennis, the occasional violin tune and time with family.

The NeuroBiome Method emerged from Meredith’s personal search for answers to significant physical & cognitive health challenges that affected every aspect of her life. Drawing on Eastern and Western medical sciences - combined with breathwork, meditation & energy practices - the method is designed to restore blance, inner harmony & whole-body health.

Meredith has continually used her body as a `template’- seeing clearly the cause & effect of influences on the body, to then establish what causes dis-ease to the body and what truly heals the body. This unique appoach enabled Meredith to heal her own body and maintain her body over the past 25 years whilst living with the debilitating neurological conditon of Multiple Sclerosis. The experience has guided and led to the development of her practice and NeuroBiome, alongide the infusion of Western medical sciences.

The integrated approach of NeuroBiome has enabled Meredith to heal naturally after years of intense & debilitating symptoms, transforming her wellbeing from head to toe and from the inside out. Through this journey, she gained the insight needed to recognise and map the BioPatterns, which now form the foundation of the NeuroBiome Method she lives and teaches today.

For more than 25 years, Meredith has researched and used Chinese herbal medicine, nutritional supplements and food-as-medicine principles to manage and heal her neurological condition. Her body became her own test case, an experience that has shaped her clinical work, guided the development of the NeuroBiome Method and supported both her recovery and the wellbeing of many others. Her illness has been her greatest teacher, revealing what it truly takes to heal, prevent relapse and cultivate long-term vibrant health.

In a world where modern living disrupts our biology and increases vulnerability to chronic and autoimmune conditions, Meredith brought together Chinese Medicine and Functional Medicine - the East and the West, the old and the new, wisdom and science - to create the NeuroBiome Method: a modern, integrative protocol for whole-body healing and long-term wellbeing.

Meredith completed a Master’s degree in Applied Science (Laboratory Pharmacology), where she was the first to demonstrate that the Australian-grown herb Danshen (Salvia miltiorrhiza) protects nitric oxide (NO) — a key molecule involved in cognitive function, including decision-making, memory and learning. Her research was supervised by Professor Chun Guang Li, an internationally recognised leader in Pharmacology, Complementary Medicine and NO science.

In 2005, Meredith was part of the delivery of acupuncture services at The Northern Hospital - the first public hospital in Victoria to do so. This joint RMIT - Northern Hospital initiative aimed to provide non-drug pain relief in the Emergency Department, and has continued for more than 20 years, supported by evidence for acupuncture’s effectiveness in pain management.

Meredith previously worked across mainstream hospital settings (Allied Health) and private healthcare, providing one-to-one counselling and health mentoring. She later moved into complementary medicine practice integrating the two streams before launching into her new venture, NeuroBiome.
