Founder of NeuroBiome™
Health Consultant/ Workshop Facilitator/ Presenter
Developed by Dr. Meredith O’Loughlan, NeuroBiome is the culmination of over 25 years of personal & professional experience, grounded in Western science & inspired by Eastern wisdom. It is shaped by Meredith’s journey of living with & healing from Multiple Sclerosis for 25 years.
Meredith is passionate about all things health, both how to create it & importantly maintain it. In her spare time, Meredith enjoys bike riding & playing tennis (nothing too serious), appreciating her beloved violin with a tune here & there, chasing kids & the sunshine!?
The NeuroBiome Method was developed over many years in response to Meredith’s search for answers to her significant personal health challenges. The method blends Eastern medicine and Western medical science together with breathwork, meditation and energy techniques to create inner harmony, healing and whole-body health. All combined, these approaches supported Meredith through years of significant physical & cognitive challenges to better manage & heal her body, she now lives by the approach she refined - the NeuroBiome Method.
After overcoming chronic gut issues since 15 years old, surgical interventions & a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, Meredith experienced many years of health challenges that set her back in all areas of her life. Following determination and ongoing persistence to restore her body back to health, she now works with passion supporting others to do the same.
Meredith has been living drug-free with Multiple Sclerosis for 25 years & regained her health by following the NeuroBiome Method.
For more than 25 years, Meredith has extensively researched & used Chinese herbal medicines & nutritional supplements to address the wide range of signs & symptoms arising from her neurological condition, Multiple Sclerosis. She has also explored food as medicine, gaining deep insight into how types of food directly impact on the body. She has been her own test case for 25 years - an experience that has guided her clinical practice, shaped the development of the NeuroBiome Method & supported her own health to reach where it is today & the health of many others. Her illness has been her greatest teacher - revealing what it truly takes to heal the body, prevent disease & relapse, and cultivate vibrant health to live life to the fullest.
Present-day living has changed how our bodies function, making us more vulnerable to modern diseases including auto-immunity. Seeking answers, Meredith combined Chinese Medicine & Functional Medicine - the East & West, the old & new, wisdom & science - creating the NeuroBiome Method - a unique, modern medical protocol designed for whole-body healing & wellbeing.
Meredith completed a Masters research in Applied Science (Laboratory Pharmacology) & was the first to demonstrate how Australian-grown herb Danshen, Salvia miltiorrhiza, protects nitric oxide (NO) - one of the main players in the role of cognitive health - decision making, memory & learning.
Her Masters research was completed under Professor Chun Guang Li who is internationally recognised for his work in Pharmacology & Complementary Medicine, and the pharmaceutical science of NO.
In 2005, Meredith was involved in the delivery of acupuncture at The Northern Hospital, which was the first public hospital to do so in Victoria. The project was a joint collaboration between RMIT University & The Northern Hospital. The project aimed to provide non-drug therapy for acute pain in the Emergency Department. The collaboration has been ongoing for over 20 years and is supported by evidence that shows acupuncture's effectiveness in pain management (see publication below).
Meredith worked in mainstram hospitals (Allied Health) & various private health settings providing 1:1 counselling & health coaching prior to her private practice in complementary medicine for the past 20 years.
